Team Dozer

Gender: Gelding
Age: 7 yrs old
Breed: Paint/draft cross

Dozer was purchased at a draft and mule auction in Tennessee that had over 400 horses with very few private buyers. He wasn’t trained and had very little chance of getting a private bid and was luckily purchased by friends of Mississippi Horse Rescue. They donated him so he could get a new start on life through their Trainers Program.

Wyatt O’Keefe – I had little to no experience with horses growing up, except for the rare pony ride or whatnot. I became interested in horses when my now-deceased older brother got a horse when he contracted brain cancer. It was during that time that I learned how special horses were and decided then to learn all that I could. Farrier and horse trainer, Randy May became my gateway into the horse world. I have apprenticed under him to learn horse training and farrier work. We’ve been training horses together for many years. Riding horses is second-nature to me, and I like dealing with troubled horses and getting them to behave and respond better to riding commands.

Minimum Bid: $1,200.00 Which will include an additional 30 days of training.
Dozer will be available to meet by appointment with trainer at Twelve Oaks Horse Farm in Canton

Dozer and Lady

Two very different types of horses. Which one best suites you? You have until noon on Wed. to schedule an appointment to meet the horses available for adoption. Bidding for horses with only one bid and no appointments pending will close at that time. Bidding closes at noon on Friday, May 8th, for horses that have more than one bid and/or have appointments pending. For more information and to see all available horses go to the web site at http://www.thesafehorseproject.org/horses/ #mhrTeamDozer #mhrLady

Taken a couple days ago with my new GoPro (first video with it) I'm working with Dozer on his Lope and quick-stop. He's starting to get the hang of it. However, his run is *incredibly* smooth and fluid! He'll be a great horse for the lucky owner that buys him… (And boy, will it be tough to say goodbye). Go Dozer! #TeamDozer

First Day

If you don't see the horse you're looking for on our available horses page, don't forget the Trainers Challenge and Safe Horse Auction is right around the corner. May 1 & 2. You can follow the trainers and their progress on the Trainers Challenge page. Dozer is a beautiful mover and I can't wait to follow these two on their journey! Wyatt O'Keefe is a farrier who wants to get more into training and we are so excited about that!http://www.thesafehorseproject.org

Doc

Dozer is a 7 year old 15.3H Draft/Cross gelding. He is a big boy and knows it! He's very friendly, always the first to meet you in the pasture and follows you everywhere. He is a lot to handle when he gets excited and will run right over you. He's never been ridden and doesn't know anything except to lead. He's available as a pick for the Trainers Challenge. #mhrDozer #MSTrainerChallenge #mshorses
